While a majority of breast cancers that are found during annual breast cancer screening mammograms are in women over 50, women under 40 are generally too young to begin screening unless they have a mutation, a genetic reason or have physical symptoms, such as a mass or other breast changes.
Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older, but breast cancer also affects younger women. Overall, about 11% of all breast cancers occur in women younger than 45, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Diagnosing breast cancer in women under 40 years old is more difficult, because their breast tissue is generally denser than in older women. By the time a lump in a younger woman’s breast can be felt, the cancer may be advanced.
While breast cancer in younger women is rare, it is the most common cancer among women ages 15 to 39. And certain kinds of breast cancer are on the rise among young
women.

In Vietnam, the age of breast cancer is much younger than other countries. There are cases when people are diagnosed at a young age, even at twenties. Many breast cancer patients are young, many of whom are unmarried and some have just entered the university.

1. Existing methods have their limitations
According to American cancer society, screening mammograms do not find about 1 in 5 breast cancers. False-negative mammograms can give women a false sense of security, thinking that they don’t have breast cancer when in fact they do.
Women with dense breasts are more likely to get false-negative results.
Across the five studies of Ontario Health Technology Assessment (Canada), between 18% and 52% of breast cancers identified were missed by both mammography and ultrasound. They were either interval cancers (cancers diagnosed in the interval between screenings) or were captured by MRI in the screening rounds.

Hence, experts susgest to use Braster with current methods to give more accurate diagnosis.

2. Breast cancer can develop strongly in a few months
Breast cancer can double in 80 days
Women below 50 year are prone to more invasive, faster growing breast cancers
